The Waconia Chamber of Commerce’s Nickle Dickle Day turns 60 this year on September 18! What originally began as an end-of-the-summer closeout shopping day in 1961 has turned into Waconia’s largest celebration (and still includes shopping deals). You won’t want to miss all that the day has to offer!
Nickle Dickle Street Dance -Come see the band IV Play perform for the 3rd Annual Street Dance on Nickle Dickle Eve: Friday, September 17! Pick up your tickets at Mackenthun’s, Waconia Brewing Company, or the Waconia Chamber office. Commemorative 60th Annual Nickle Dickle Day hats and can koozies will also be available. Arts & Crafts Show – Saturday 8AM-5PM in City Square Park, downtown Waconia. There will be 120 craft booths, with live bands playing in the gazebo.
Food Vendors & Trucks – 10 food vendors with a wide variety of delicious foods to enjoy! Locations: Spruce Street (between 1st & Main), and the corner of 1st & Elm Streets. Smoked turkey drumsticks, prime rib sandwich, cheese curds, buffalo wrap, chicken & waffles in a cone, fire roasted sweet corn, kettle korn, and much more. Are you hungry yet?!
Music in the Park – Music starts at 8AM and features Mitchell Hall & the Tennessee Trio, Chopper, and Traveled Ground.
Pie Eating Contest – Participate and/or cheer on representatives from our local schools in this crowd favorite!
Car Show – It’s the 35th Annual and we’re expecting 400 cars this year! It’s the best car show around!
Mechanical Bull – Located on 1st and Olive Streets from 11AM-4PM.
Fun Run – It’s the 20th Annual Nickle Dickle Fun Run: 5k, 10k, and kids Tickle Run put on by Waconia Community Education. Nickle Dickle Run Details.
3-on-3 Basketball – This year marks the 28th Annual. What started as a way to fund the 4th grade St. Joe’s basketball team uniform has turned into the school’s fundraiser for their athletic program. Duck Race – The Rotary Duck race is back, and will be located at St. Joe’s playground area. Free event for kids!
Library Book Sale – The Friends of the Waconia Library will have a selection of gently used books for sale from 9AM-3PM at City Hall on Vine Street.
Shopping, Restaurants, Bars, and Movie Theater – Shopping deals, food & drink specials, popcorn, and more in Waconia.
Bonus Fun!– Kid demos and race track in the park; firetruck, pony rides, Bingo, shoot a puck, and more.
